Beauty of the Unexpected

Why yes, it has been over a month since I’ve posted something on here. Why, you ask? I’ve got five words for you:

End of the semester madness.

Understand now? Good.

But, now that the semester is officially OVER (insert hallelujah chorus), I actually have some spare time to do stuff that I like to do. Like…blogging! So now, the only question is, what to blog about?

Well, my usual game plan is to write about something that I’m experiencing at the moment, or have recently learned a lesson about, or has inspired me in some way. And if you mix all three of those things together and apply it to my life right now, one thing keeps popping into my mind. Continue reading “Beauty of the Unexpected”

Be Still

So if you’ve spoken with me sometime within the past two weeks, you know why I haven’t put up a blog post in a while. To put it simply, I had no time (like, really). With homework, real work, papers, presentations and that rare gift to college students called “a good night’s sleep,” blogging has taken a back seat.

But I’m back. As of two hours ago as I’m writing this sentence, I finished the three big projects that all happened to be due on the same day (note, I’m rolling my eyes right now) and over which I was stressing out immensely. So now–after having scurried around campus like a crazy person searching for a printer that was working so I could print my papers before class started–I’m free as a bird….until Monday. Waiting in the Hallway

I’m scared of many things.

Bees are a big one. I hate ’em. As much as I like honey, I wish they would all just die. I’m also afraid of creepy-looking puppets, probably because I was exposed to about 5 of the worst minutes of the movie “Chuckie” when I was a young child and have been scarred ever since.

And anyone who knows me well knows that when there’s a storm approaching, I’m a wreck. Literally, I’m a totally different person when there’s thunder and lightning outside. I was one of those kids who would hide underneath a blanket and cry at the sound of every boom. Continue reading “Waiting in the Hallway”

Even when they don’t have your soup.

I will start off by telling you that my inspiration for writing this post is the fact that I currently cannot breathe through my nose, I have been sneezing non-stop for the past four days, and at one point, I used at least 75 tissues within a five hour period. Glamorous, right?

No. Not at all. I feel like I could take flight at any moment due to the top half of my head feeling like a balloon.

But, here I am–trying to fight through the discomfort and fatigue and write about the good of all of this.

Huh, the good. Riiight. Continue reading “Even when they don’t have your soup.”

Shut Up and Listen

Okay, am I the only one who automatically thinks of Lily’s TV show from The Princess Diaries when I hear that phrase?

Anyway…this post is dedicated to a topic that may not be hard for you to figure out by now. Listening.

I will say that like many people I know, I don’t like to be interrupted. Who does? I mean, it’s just common decency. When you’re talking, the other person should wait for that little pause “cue” at the end of the sentence that you give them before putting their two cents in. To me, being interrupted is like having a warm, soft, luscious brownie in your hand and lifting it to your mouth, but just before it reaches your lips BAM! someone smacks it out of your grasp and onto the floor like Mutombo in that Geico commercial.

Not. Cool. Continue reading “Shut Up and Listen”
