7 Ways This Gal Deals With Stress

We all deal with it. It’s part of our everyday lives. It’s part of our humanity. It’s how we’re wired.

Bad things happen. We get stressed. Simple as that.

There’s really no way around it. There are some people out there who say, “Oh, I’ve learned how to not get stressed when things go wrong.” And you know what I say back?

“You’re lying.”

I don’t care who you are–if you’re not getting stressed (even just a little) ever in your life, then you’re not human. The trick isn’t not getting stressed. That’s impossible. The trick is learning how to effectively deal will stress. Continue reading “7 Ways This Gal Deals With Stress”

A Word to the Wise

When it comes to deciding what to write about, my process is pretty simple. I wait for something to come to me. I don’t make a deadline for myself. I don’t tell myself that I’m going to write this many posts this month. I don’t search and search my head for hours trying to think of something relevant to write. Because usually when I do that, I end up writing something that’s not actually relevant.

No, I write when life tosses me something worth writing about. Sometimes it’s serious. Sometimes it’s entertaining. Sometimes it’s totally random but still fun to read (and to write). Continue reading “A Word to the Wise”

If Money Was No Object

So, if I had thought of it at the time, I would have totally posted this video along with my last post. Because it’s pretty much exactly what I was trying to say, except more concise and to the point–and perhaps subconsciously was my inspiration for writing that post.

I know. Sappy, heart-felt thoughts from a girl with her head in the clouds.

Over the past few years, though, I’ve been bombarded by the idea that the most important thing for a person my age to do is to find a good career–one that will give us job stability, great experience, and, most importantly, great pay. Now, don’t get me wrong–all of those things are great and all. But what rubs me the wrong way is when we’re labeled as failures because we don’t get them. Continue reading “A Life Worth Living”

Where the Heart Is

When I was a kid, I’ll admit–I didn’t always want to go to family gatherings. I mean, I usually did. That’s just the way I grew up–family gatherings were a good time, for real. But sometimes (mostly when I was in my tween years) I just didn’t want to go. I thought I was (wait for it)…too cool for stuff like that.

Excuse me while I roll my eyes.

We’ve all been there (or maybe you weren’t as awful as I was at 13 years old).

“But Mom, it’s so boring!”

“But Mom, they’re all so old!”

“But Mom…waah waah waah!”

Ok, I wasn’t that bad. But you get my point. Continue reading “Where the Heart Is”
